This mixed-media canvas depicts the Poet arriving at the tram stop where he shelters from the rain in the short film Out of reach (rain night). Previous to this composition, the character had only appeared as a walking silhouette wandering deserted streets at night and arriving at a tram stop. He sits, hitting his head against the glass wall: his face is revealed for the first time against a neon title that reads "Le Poète" for a mere second while he settles.
Le poète neon - variation 1
The background is here a dark space where the tram stop can barely be understood. The darkness conveys the heart of forest at night, and is in fact a collage of the park across the street, as if the canvas itself is a mirror where a reflection is hinted. Rain drops shine on the canvas as if sliding on a glass pane.

Le poète neon - variation 4

This collection of 19 rare stills is an opening title section that preludes a cinematic tableau in the Emblematic Prints series: The Poet dreams memories. From the crown of the Poet's head, there's a spark of colour that will later expand into a collage of colourful celebration memories covering the entire canvas.
